Navigating the In-Between: 5 Soulful Strategies for Life & Business Transitions

There’s a part of life that doesn’t get much attention.

It’s not the exciting beginning.
It’s not the triumphant ending.
It’s the space in between.

The in-between is where you’ve let go of something that no longer fits—
a job, a title, a relationship, a version of yourself—
but haven’t quite landed in what’s next.

And if you’re in it… you know how disorienting it can be.

It’s quiet.
It’s messy.
It’s full of feelings.

There’s no clear map.
No progress bar.
Just a strange combination of exhaustion, hope, grief, and curiosity.

But here’s the truth:
The in-between is not a problem to fix.
It’s a sacred space of becoming.

And while it doesn’t come with a user manual, there are a few things that can help.

Common Struggles in the In-Between:

  • Feeling unproductive or “behind”You’re used to defining yourself by what you do. In this space, rest feels suspicious and productivity guilt kicks in.

  • Not knowing who you are anymore
When you let go of old roles, it can feel like your identity is unraveling. (It kind of is—and that’s okay.)

  • Trying to rush clarity
You want answers, but they aren’t showing up on your timeline. This often leads to overthinking, looping, or frantic decision-making.

  • Feeling disconnected or alone
Others may not understand what you’re going through, which can make you feel invisible—or like you’re “too much.”

  • Fear of choosing the “wrong” next step
When the future feels foggy, it’s easy to freeze and avoid action altogether.

5 Soulful Strategies for Navigating the In-Between

  1. Name where you are.
Just acknowledging “I’m in an in-between season” can be incredibly grounding. You don’t have to force clarity—just honor your current state.

  2. Make space for integration.
Journaling, resting, meditating, walking in nature—these aren’t indulgent distractions. They’re essential tools for letting your nervous system settle and your intuition speak.

  3. Focus on what feels true, not what looks good on paper.
This is not the season to people-please or build based on external validation. Trust your body’s yes—even if it doesn’t make logical sense (yet).

  4. Use micro-decisions to test the waters.
Instead of trying to “figure it all out,” try tiny moves: update a bio, schedule a call, say no to something you’d usually say yes to. Clarity often follows action.

  5. Get support in giving shape to what’s next.
You don’t have to navigate the in-between alone. Talking with someone who can hold space for your uncertainty and help you draw out the next vision can be powerful. PS, this is me! Book a storyboarding session where we’ll connect the dots between where you’ve been and what you’re becoming—so you can navigate this space with more clarity.
